MCP

Use Ternly from Claude and ChatGPT

Ternly has an MCP server. Connect it to the AI app you already use, and ask about your AI answers, rankings, audits and app listings in plain words, or have it make changes for you.

Last updated 26 October 2026

What you can ask

  • “Which questions does ChatGPT leave us out of, and who does it recommend instead?”
  • “What changed in our AI answers this month, and which pages do they cite now?”
  • “Go through this week’s to-do list and write me a brief for the website fixes.”
  • “Track these 20 keywords in Germany on mobile, and add our three closest rivals as competitors.”
  • “Why did our App Store conversion drop after the last listing change?”

It reads the same data as the app: AI answers and the pages they cite, your brand profile, out-of-date answers, AI crawler visits, site audits, Search Console and GA4, rank tracking, backlinks, competitors’ changes, and your apps’ listings, reviews and store rankings. It can add questions, keywords, competitors and sites, tick off to-dos, and start runs.

Before you start

  • The MCP server comes with every paid plan: Indie, Studio and Agency. Free workspaces can’t connect.
  • The server’s address is https://app.ternly.io/mcp. You’ll find it, with a copy button, on the AI apps tab of the Workspace page.
  • When you connect, you sign in to Ternly and pick one workspace. The app sees that workspace only.

Claude

  1. In Claude (on the web or the desktop app), open Settings, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Name it Ternly and paste https://app.ternly.io/mcp as the URL.
  3. Choose Connect, sign in to Ternly, pick the workspace and choose Allow.

On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, an owner may need to add the connector for the organization first.

ChatGPT

  1. In ChatGPT’s Settings, open Apps and turn on developer mode under the advanced settings.
  2. Create an app with https://app.ternly.io/mcp as its MCP server URL and OAuth as its sign-in.
  3. Sign in to Ternly when it asks, pick the workspace and choose Allow.

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http ternly https://app.ternly.io/mcp

Then run /mcp in Claude Code, pick ternly and sign in.

Cursor and other apps, with a personal token

For an app or script that can’t sign in with OAuth, make a personal token on the AI apps tab of the Workspace page, and send it as a bearer token. In Cursor’s mcp.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "ternly": {
      "url": "https://app.ternly.io/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer tern_pat_…" }
    }
  }
}

A token is shown once. Keep it like a password: anyone who has it can use the workspace as you.

What it can and can’t do

  • One workspace. A connection sees the workspace you picked and nothing else.
  • Your role. It can do what you can do there. If you’re a viewer, it can only look.
  • It asks before spending. Runs that cost money or use your plan’s allowances (AI runs, rank checks, audits, briefs) are marked so your AI app asks you first, and they count against your plan the same as in the app.
  • Limits. Up to 60 calls a minute per person, and 30 paid runs a day per workspace from MCP.
  • Things it leaves to the app. Deleting sites or workspaces, inviting people, changing the plan, and connecting accounts such as Google.

Disconnecting

Every app and token connected to a workspace is listed on the AI apps tab of the Workspace page, with when it was last used. Disconnect stops it at once. Owners and admins see and can disconnect everyone’s; others see their own. Removing someone from the workspace ends their connections too.

What the AI app does with the data it reads is up to that app’s own terms and privacy policy. See our privacy policy for what Ternly keeps.
